The bar chart shows the number of cinema enthusiasts among males and females, comparing different age groups in 2012.
Overall, males showed relatively higher enthusiasm in terms of going to the cinema in the early years of adulthood. However, the biggest share in all age groups was reported among their female counterparts. Other age groups were identical in proportions among both sexes.
Among males, the percentage of cinema goers rose steadily with age. From 14-17- year – olds showed a 7% increase, more than doubling in proportion in the age group of 18-24. Thereafter, the figures continued to go up noticeably to 23% and 25% among those aged 25-34 and 35-49, respectively. It is worth mentioning that over 50-year-olds reported the highest share of visits among this gender.
A similar age pattern was observed among women, showing a consistent growth with age. Those aged 14-17 accounted for the smallest share, representing the same 7% as their male counterparts. 18-24-year-olds women visited nearly the same percentage as men, by a margin of 1% difference, standing at 15%. As women aged, the share of their visits rose gradually up to the 40s. However, over than 50-years-olds reached a high of a whopping 33%.
