The diagram illustrates the process by which hot water is made available and distributed in a house.
Overall, the provision of heated water in a house involves a series of process which includes sourcing of cold water from an underground source, a furnace and pipes through which it is distributed.
Cold water is directed through a pipe underground into the house which passes through a furnace. The furnace is heated by wood pellets which are added from time to time to heat up the water passing through the pipe. The residue from the pellets is collected into an ash receptable and the exhaust is passed along a smoke stack into the atmosphere.
As the water in the pipe is heated, it runs along a distribution channel to the living room and bedrooms on the second floor of the building.
