It can be clearly seen that the proportion for computers, restaurants, and cars experienced an upward trend, as opposed to the downfall of the others.Remarkably, the percentage of food, which topped the list in 1966, was overtaken by that of cars, which demonstrated the highest figure in pie charts given over 30 years.
Looking at the pie charts in more detail, In terms of categories, whose proportions witnessed an upward trend, the percentage of either restaurants or cars experienced a twofold increase over 30 years, which was 14% and 45% respectively. Meanwhile, the proportion of spending on computers rose to 10% in 1996, which was ten times higher than that of 1966.
As regards commodities, whose proportions recorded a decline, 44% was the percentage of food in 1966, which then experienced a significant decrease to hit a mere 14% in 1996. Moreover,the percentage of books fell from 6% in 1966 to 1% in 1996. Furthermore, the percentage of furniture and petrol was 10% and 9% respectively in 1966; after three decades, that of both categories experienced a marginal drop to reach 8%.
