Overall, Brisbane experiences higher maximum and minimum temperatures throughout the year compared to Canberra. Additionally, Canberra has more rainy days on average, especially in the cooler months.
Beginning with the average daily temperatures, Brisbane had consistently higher figures than Canberra. Its maximum temperatures fluctuated slightly, peaking at 30°C in January and December, while the minimum temperatures ranged from 15°C to 20°C. Conversely, Canberra’s temperatures varied considerably. The maximum temperature started at 28°C in January but plummeted to 11°C in July before recovering steadily towards the year-end. Meanwhile, its minimum temperature dropped dramatically to below 5°C in winter.
Turning to the number of rainy days, Brisbane generally experienced more rainfall than Canberra. The highest figure in Brisbane was 14 days in February and March, which was nearly double that of Canberra at the same time. From June to October, the figures for Brisbane dropped to their lowest at 7 days, before rising to 12 days at the end of the year. In contrast, Canberra’s numbers fluctuated between 7 and 10 days throughout most of the year, with no significant peak.
