The line graph illustrates the usage of fixed telephone lines, mobile phones, and the internet in China from 1994 to 2005. Overall, all categories showed upward trends, albeit at varying rates of rise. It is also evident that the most significant increase was seen in mobile phones, whereas the internet exhibited the smallest growth throughout the period.
Focusing on the increases first, fixed telephone lines and mobile phones showed noticeable growth over the period. In 1994, the number of fixed telephone line users started at approximately 25 million, a figure that then surged by 2005, reaching exactly 350 million. As for mobile phone use, it was non-existent in 1994 before growing to 50 million in 1996. After this increase, this number climbed markedly to about 250 million in 2001, surpassing fixed telephone lines in 2002. It then continued its upward trajectory by the final year, hitting a peak of 450 million.
Turning to internet usage, it exhibited relatively less growth. The number of internet subscribers was zero in 1994, but this was followed by a considerable rise to 100 million by 1999, after which this figure experienced a further increase by 2005, ending the period with roughly 195 million.
