The given line graph compares the number of Chinese people using different means of communication, namely fixed telephone lines, mobile phones and the internet, between 1994 and 2005.
Overall, all three figures increased significantly over the period. However, mobile phone usage grew the fastest and eventually became the most widely used form of communication by the end of the period.
In terms of internet usage, the number of users remained very low during the first two years, at just under 10 million. From 1996 onwards, however, the figure rose steadily and reached nearly 200 million by 2005.
Regarding mobile phones and fixed telephone lines, both experienced substantial growth. The number of landline users increased steadily from about 30 million in 1994 to around 350 million in 2005. Meanwhile, although mobile phone usage was initially lower than landline usage, it grew far more rapidly, overtook landlines in 2001 and eventually peaked at approximately 450 million users.
