The line graph compares the number of users of three different communication technologies: fixed telephone line, mobile phone and internet in China over a 11-year period from 1994 to 2005.

Overall, all figures experienced an upward trajectory, while the number of fixed telephone line users stood out as a dominant category, whereas it was overtaken by mobile phone users. Of a particular note is that, the number of internet users was the least during the timeframe.

The fixed telephone line users stood at about 25 million people in the beginning, before registering an increasing trend, after it being overtaken by mobile phone users in 2001. It ended the period at 350 million users in 2005. By contrast, the mobile phone users were zero in 1995, despite starting from zero it dramatically increased to 450 million people in the end of the given period.

The last figure for the number of internet users was also at zero in the beginning and remained unchanged by 1996, then it saw a noticeable growth to around 200 million users at the end of the period.
