The graph shows how much energy was consumed in one country from 2000 to 2020 and projections until 2050.
Overall, usage of almost all energy sources increased until 2020 and is expected to continually rise in 30 years. Despite the general upward trend, non-renewable energy consumption is considerably higher compared to sustainable energy usage in the whole period.
Among non-renewable sources, petrol and oil were largely utilized and reached 40 quadrillion units by 2020 with brief falls between. By 2025 it is expected that petrol and oil will reach 47 quadrillion and remain as the most commonly used source type. After sharp increase in 2015, coal reached 23 quadrillion units and is projected to gradually rise until 33 quadrillion in 2050. Recovering after long fall, natural gas comprised 24 quadrillion units in 2020, slightly leveling over coal, however, it is anticipated that its usage level will strongly fluctuate until 2035 and remain at the level of 23-24 quadrillion units by 2025.
All sustainable energy sources were used substantially lower, under 10 quadrillion units throughout the given period. Nuclear energy consumption gradually grew to 6 quadrillion in 2020 and is expected to reach 7 quadrillion in 2025, after steady decline regain it in 2025. Solar and wind energy had almost similar usage levels as hydropower around 3 and 4 quadrillions in 2022. However, hydropower is expected to decline in 2025 and remain at the level 3 quadrillion until 2025 while solar and wind energy are anticipated to remain at the level of 5 quadrillion units the major part of the time, only slightly increasing over 5 quadrillion in 2050.
