The line graph compares how much sugar was produced and consumed in India between 2001 and 2011.
Overall, both figures for conspumtion and production experienced and upward trend, albeit to varying degrees. While near steady increase was seen in sugar consumption, there were wild fluctuations regarding the producing this commodity.
In 2001, about 27 tonnes of sugar was manufactured, a figure then declined sharply to reach a low of around 17 tonnes by 2005. It was not until 2007, the amount of sugar peaked at 34 tonnes, which then plummeted again, before recovering to above 30 in the last year 2011.
Turning to the other pattern, Indians consumed as much as 23 tonnes of sugar in 2001. In 2003, it accounted for 25 tonnes, one of the four points where people’s cunsumption needs intersected with the scale of production in this product. After a marginal decrease in the following years, it grew steadily constitued for
26 tonnes in 2011.
