Overall,the number of people who smoked the cigarettes decreased gradually in both male and female.There were more male smokers than female,over the limescale.The biggest number of smokers was in 2011,while the lowest was in 2021.
Male smokers consistently stood out as a dominant cigarette smokers in the UK,despite some fluctuations.Starting at approximately 4.1 million initially,smokers level decreased considerably to just 2.8 million in 2012.Following that,it hovered around 2.8 until 2019,before experiencing a gradual decline to reach the lowest value around 1.2 million in 2021.
The numbers of female,on the other hand,mirrored the male’s trend,albeit at much slower pace.In 2011,roughly 3.7 million smokes of cigarettes increased,a figure that then showed a gradual downward trends,towards the end,finishing the period at 0.8 million cigarette smokers. By 2021,the number of cigarette smokers level from both sexes witnessed a steady downward trajectory to hit a low of about 1.3 and 0.8 million,respectively.
