The graph illustrates the percentage of inhabitans in four diffrent Asian countries residing in cities between 1970 and 2020, along with predictions for the year 2030 and 2040.
Overall, the urbanisation portion of Malasia’s population over the years is higher compared to other countries. As it can be clearly seen in the graph, there is a general growing trend within all lands.
Thailand and Indonesia, starting from a relatively low percent, reached the same rate together in 2000. While Indonesia continued to rise and caught Philippines in 2010. Whereas Indonesia and Malesia’s population in cities kept increasing, Thailand’s figure levelled off between 1990 and 2000. Despite the Philippines suprassed Malasia, by catching the highest percent in 1990, it experienced a downward trend until 2010 unlike others.
After 1990s, Malasia is far most ahead of the other countries and showed a significant growth. For both 2030 and 2040, it is expected to remain obviously in the lead. All of them are projected to be in a slight upward trend in coming years.
