The line graph presents data on quantities of goods exported and imported by several types of transport in USA throughout 1990 and 2040.
Overall, it is clear that there are six types of transportation and their number of transported goods. Throughout the timeline, road transportation had always remained and will remain its upward trend until 2040. Followed by, water and railway recorded a similar pattern, even though the railway will soon overgrow the water transportation. The air, cable and pipeline modes of transportation show the lowest quantity of goods transported compared to the latter modes.
Throughout 1990 and 2025, the road had started from 35 million tons of goods and diminished to around 30 million tons, however, it got stabilized and registered a consistent growth up to approximately 43 million tons. Even though railway had started from 15 million tons and water from 20 million tons, they shared a similar trend and reached 25 million tons by 2025. Despite air, cable and pipeline starting from 5 million tons of goods, the air mode showed the highest trend of among those three modes, reaching nearly 10 million tons by 2025, followed by pipelines. It is true that cable mode, with some fluctuations, illustrated the lowest quantity of goods transported and returned to its original number of products transported.
It is predicted that through 2025 and 2040 the road transportation will still remain the highest of them all and reach almost 50 million tons of products transported. Even though water and railway shared the same patterns, by 2040 the railway will overtake the water by recording over 30 million tons of goods while water will register 25 million tons. Air, cable and pipeline will stabilize after 2025, however, air and pipelines will show a slight increase and cable will record a gradual reduction by the end of 2040.
