According to the 2008 report, in 1980, the amount of petrol and oil used at 35 quadrillion units. In contrast, nuclear, solar, and hydropower were at below 5 quadtrillion units in the same year, compared with coal and natural gas which consumed energy almost 15 and 20 quadrillion units respectively. However, the fuel of petrol and oil saw fluctuate in some year, then this figure increased sharply at around 40 quadrillion units until 2008. In addition, coal and natural gas rose gradually and reached at around 20 quadrillion units by 2008, nuclear, and solar saw a increase trend except hydropower by same time.
