The graph shows us the number of passengers on railway journeys made in Great Britain between 1950 and 2004/5. It shows us how much the UK developed its railway and how many people used it for their needs. The graph compares two railway companies, that used to ride passengers all around the UK, such as National Rail Network and London Underground.

In the year 1960, the National Rail Network saw its growth and approximately 120 million people used its trains to go wherever they needed. But, after 10 years they saw declines and lost their passengers by 500 million people. After 1970s, they’ve been oscillating in the 1980s and, finally, increased in the 1990s, when the previous nubmer of 120 million people used their transport.

London Underground wasn’t as much popular as the first company. They were stable for 20 years, when 600 million people used their transport. The company decreased inthe 1980s, lost 150 millions people to their competitors.

Overall, we can say that the British people often use railways to move around the country. Light rail and metro systems only saw improvements throughout the years.
