The graph divides Europeans into three categories including individuals with no car, 1 car and 2 or more cars, from 1971 to 2001. Overall, only a minor percentage of people own 2 or more cars throughout this time period. Additionally, the rate of people who were able to buy their first car significantly increased overtime.
The percentage of households who didn’t own any vehicle decreased from nearly 47% in 1971 to roughly 40% in 1981. Same things happened to Europeans who owned only 1 vehicle with a fall of 5% in this 10 year period. However, statistics regarding households with 2 or more cars witnessed a different trend with a sharp increase from roughly 15% to over 30% in 1981.
From 1991 to 2001, the percentage regarding the population who own no car or 1 car significantly rose with nearly 6% and 5% respectively. In contrast, proportion of residents who own 2 or more vehicles plummeted from over 47% in 1991 to roughly 42% in 2001
