Overall, it can be clearly observed that the Brazilian Amazon saw fluctuating deforestation rates over the period, and smallholder agriculture was the primary reason for it. It had the highest percentage, and it was 35%.
In 2008, the deforestation rate was the highest, and it was almost 38000 km². But in 2010, it saw a negative trend, and it decreased by 10000 km². In 2013, it experienced a significant surge. In 2013, the rate was 37000 km², and in 2016, it saw a dramatic fall. In the end, in 2021, it saw a negative trend, and at that time, the rate of cutting forest was 20000 km². So, we can state that this deforestation saw a fluctuating rate throughout the period.
Smallholder agriculture had the highest percentage for deforestation, and it was 35%. After that, the main reason for deforestation was cattle pasture, and it was 25%. There were 3 more reasons: large-scale agriculture, logging, and others, respectively 20%, 20%,15%, and 5%.
