The line graph illustrates the percentage of houses using 2 different types of heating fuels according to the year of construction of the houses. Overall, the natural gas is more commonly use in older houses, while newer homes use electricity at the similar rate as natural gas.
The proportion of using natural gas for heating by houses built from before 1950 to 1969 stabilise constantly. These percentage fall significantly to around 45%, for homes built between 1970 and 1989 and continuously reach a plateau for houses built from 1990 to 2010.
Just 15% of houses built before 1950 was used electricity for heating fuels. The figures rises steadily until we see 45% of home built between 1990 and 2010 use electricity for heating.
