The chart above depicts the usage of oil of the 4 largest consumers between 2009 and 2030.
Overall, except form the US, in all of the geographic areas, the consumption has levelled off between 2 to 3 millions of barrels per day. On the contrary, the US, which once was the greater consumer, saw a sharp fall, progressively alligning with the others.
While China’s usage was rising until 2025, to almost stabilyze with a slight reduction then, the Middle East has seen a consistent but not significant growth since 2009. Nevertheless, they both reached a number around 3 millions in 2030. At the same time, in Western Europe and Japan, the data shows a steady decrease in millions of barrels, going from their peak at 4 to their lowest record near to 2.
In regard to the US, after years of fluctuation from 2009 and 2015, they have seen a persistent drop that brought them to slightely higher than 4 millions barrel at the end of the line graph.
