The line graph illustrates the expenditure on books in Germany, France, Italy, and Austria from 1995 to 2005.
Overall, it can be clearly seen that the spending on books by four countries generally increased, and Germany remained the top spender over the entire period.
From 1995, Germany spent just over $80 million before steeply climbing to just under $100 million. France demonstrated an upward trend over the given period, increasing from just under $60 million to just under $80 million, making it the second-largest country that spent the most on books.
Italy’s expenditure hovered at around $50 million until 1999, then it steadily grew to just over $60 million. The figure for Austria began at just under $30 million before it levelled off at around $40 million until 2001. The following year, it rose steeply to around $60 million by 2003, surpassing Italy’s position, and continued to grow to just above $70 million at the end of the given year.
