The line graph illustrates the average attendance at football matches in three European countries from 1980 to 2004. Overall, while the number of people who attended football matches increased noticeably in Germany and England, the reverse was true for Italy. Notably, Italy from having the highest figure at the beginning of the period, ended up with all-time low number of football fans visiting matches.
Regarding countries with increase, starting at 35 thousand in 1980, attendance at football matches in Italy rose slightly by about 2 thousand in 1986. This was followed by a sharp decrease to 25 thousand in 2004.
As for remaining countries, England saw its figure of people attending football matches go down negligibly from just above 26 thousand in 1980 to approximately 23 thousand in 1986 but then recovered to just below 35 thousand in 2004. Similarly, despite dropping from 25 thousand in 1980 to roughly 19 thousand, the figure of football fans who attended matches in Germany climbed gradually to about 33 thousand in 2004.
