Over time manufacturing become faster and more efficient. The line graph illustrates the time measure required by companies to manufacture vehicles at US between 1998 and 2005.
In general, the number of hours experienced a declining trend for all companies, so GM and Ford doing it sharply, whereas the figure for Toyota and Honda drops negligibly. Highest point showed American companies in 1998, while at the same time Japanese companies were with the lowest one. Notably, General Motors and Ford dispays significant change reaching 22 hours per vehicle.
General Motors started with highest hours of production in 1998 wich declined by 10 hours in 2005. The figure for Ford begins with middle indicator but in 2001 it rose to roughly 32, but in the end it achieved 22 hours.
Interestingly, Toyota and Honda shared much lower times at 22 hours in 1998, yet after a period of fluctuation, came together again at 20 hours in 2005. Additionaly, they showed same result 24 hours in 2002, and similar figure for both at 20 hours in 2005.
In conclusion, GM and Ford required significantly longer hours for the production of a car, which declined throughout th years, the figure for Toyota and Honda experienced approximately same point, after instability length of hours they both come to 20 hours in 2005.
