The line graph illustrates the amount of different types of meat being consumed from 1979 to 2004. Overall, beef, lamb, and fish decreased over the years, and an increasing trend for chicken ended with a highest rate.
In 1979, beef was by far the most popular food, with about 225 grams consumed per person per week. Lamb and chicken were eaten in similar quantities (145 grams), while much less fish was consumed (just over 50 grams).
Specifically, fish had a relatively constant drift and fell to just below 50 grams per person per week. Moreover, lamb and beef also decreased with fluctuation at the same time by around 100 grams to 60g and 110g respectively. However, the consumption of chicken showed an upward trend, exceeding that of lamb in 1980 and that of beef in 1989, and finally reached to 250 grams per person per week. Overall, the gragh shows how the consumption of chicken increased dramatically while the popularity of other foods decreased over the years.
