The line graph compares crime rates in three distinct categories, namely car theft, house burgling and street robbery in England and Wales over a 35-year period.
Although, initially car theft and house burgling rose, both of them decreased by the end of the period, while street robbery showed a stagnancy over the entire period.
In 1970, car theft stood at 0.40, the figure then soared to 1.00 in 1990, showing the higest rates in this particular crime. Before experiencing the same rates by 2005, the trajectory rose dramatically to 1.60 million in 1995.
As for house burgling, the figure started at 0.20, increasing to 0.60 in 1980. From that year onwards, this crime rate underwent slight transitions between 0.80 and 0.60 . In 1995, the figure exhibited 0.60 million which then dropped to nearly 0.40 in 2005.
Lastly, street robbery was the least frequent crime, yet showed an upward trajectory by the end of the timeframe. Initially, it was at low chart of 0.00. Until 1990, the figure stood at the same rate, remaining unchanged. However, during a 10-year period it grew substantially to 0.20 million by 2005.
