The graph below illustrates the differences in wheat exports over a 5 year period from 1985 to 1990 with three different areas.
Looking from an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that the trend of European community and Canada was upward while there was a downward trend of Australia.
To begin with, the figure of European Community was 17 millions of tones in 1985, first it was decreased slowly 14 millions of tones in 1986. Subsequently, it remained stable at around 15 millions of tones in 1987 and 1988. It increased dramatically to just above nearly 19 millions of tones in 1989 and almost 21 millions of tones in 1990. As for Canada, it’s trend began at a much lower figure of 19 millions of tones in 1985 but increased drastically to over 25 millions of tones by 1988. This figure was more than two times than Australia’s figure in 1988(nearly 12 millions of tones)
The trend of Australia was the lowest in 1985 at around 15 millions of tones. It fluctuated I the first four years and then it decreased to 11 millions of tones in 1989. Australia’s figure in 1986 was same as Canada’s figure in 1986(almost 13 millions of tones).
