The line chart demonstrates data on the number of books bought from different sources in one European country since 2000 with a prediction for 2012.
Overall, it can be clearly seen that supermarkets accounted for the greatest growth over the period, whereas bookshops presented the highest decrease throughout the period.
Looking at the detail, supermarkets started with 130 million books in 2000, slightly increasing to the same number as bookshops in 2008 (140 million), reaching the largest proportion in 2012, demonstrating 160 million. Furthermore, the number of books bought from the internet represented the lowest figure in 2000 (110 million), increasing to 150 million in 2008, standing at the highest number in this year; however, in 2012, it decreased to approximately 135 million.
Moving to bookshops, it is evident that the number declined between 2000 and 2008, from 170 million to 140 million, although in 2012, it increased to just over 150 million.
