The supplied line graph provides data on the complaints on the noise disturbance to the Environmental health authorities of the city Newton during 1980 and 1996.
In general, it can be seen that all the figures witnessed growth over the period except for the numbers of complaints towards domestic/household, which declined.
First and foremost, in 1980, objections to the disturbance caused by domestic/household activities accounted for over 600 which was the highest of all. Meanwhile, factories and road works shared relatively similar figure with road works being slightly above factories. Moreover, figure for traffic noise was the lowest. Yet within 2 years factories overtook domestic/household as the main concern of the residents.
Between 1988 and 1996 objections to road works increased substantially from 400 to a peak of over 1200. Another category which also increased was traffic noise, grew from 200 to 600. By contrast, the figure for domestic/household experienced gradual decline from 600 to less than 200 over the period. While complaints about factories remained relatively stable till the end after rose moderately in 1982.
