The graph gives information about the number of passenger railway journeys made by Great Britain from 1950 until 2004/5. There are three lines on the graph, namely National rail network, London Underground, and Light rail and metro systems.
Based on the graph, the number of people using the national rail network in 1950 reached one thousand millions people. On the other hand, only seven hundred million people use the London Underground. Unfortunately, these two types of railway had a significant decrease around the 1980s. After that they show an upward trend, although experiencing ups and downs during its journey. However, at the end of the year London Underground defeated the National Rail Network with around two hundred millions people.
Despite that, around the 1960s after the National rail network and London Underground ran out. There is a new transportation system that can be used in Great Britain named Light rail & Metro systems. Over the years, this transportation shows a small growth, it did not increase over the two hundred and fifty million people. In spite of that, it could be the new alternative for people to use this type.
In conclusion, many people still used the London Underground in 2004/5, with the national rail network in second place. Meanwhile, light rail and metro systems were still in last place, considering that they were only introduced to the public in the 1960s.
