The line graph illustrates the count of people who participated in different types of sport, namely basketball, tennis, badminton, and rugby, in one region from 1985 to 2005.
Overall, it is clear that rugby and tennis trends underwent an upward and downward trajectory. Basketball and badminton, in other words, remained almost unchanged over the twenty years.
Despite the initial dominance, the number of people taking part in rugby fell significantly from just under 250 players, a number which then followed a downward trend until it reached 50 players in 2005. Tennis, however, experienced a sharp increase, starting at 150 players. The trend ended with 225 in 2005. With this number of players, it was the most popular sport at the end of the period.
By 1995, there were no notable changes in badminton and basketball, which had about 50 and 70 players, respectively. When it comes to basketball, it was ranked third. Ironically, after 25 years, it ended with the same number of players as in the initial year. A similar trend happened with badminton. It was at the bottom of the chart. This sport did not attract or lose any participants during the period, ending at 50 in 2005.
