The line graph presents the changes in the number of people taking part in four different sports – basketball, tennis, badminton, and rugby – in a singular region over the two-decade period between 1985 and 2005, measured in number.
Overall, it is evident that tennis experienced a general upward trend throughout the period, whereas rugby showed a contrasting pattern. Another notable feature is that badminton recorded the least number of participants at certain points during the timeframe.
At the beginning of the period, rugby stood at approximately 240, which was the most popular sport. Over the next few years, this figure decreased dramatically, reaching around 50 by 2005. In contrast, tennis started at about 150 in 1985, and it peaked to around 230 by the end of the years. As a result, the difference between the two figures became more pronounced by the midpoint of the timeframe.
In the latter part of the period, badminton experienced an unnoticeable change, reaching around 50, making it the least among all categories throughout the years. Meanwhile, basketball reached approximately 70, which showed consistent figure over the years. By the end of the period, another highlight was similar trend which rugby and badminton reached similar data at around 50.
