The line graph illustrates the data about the participation of people in four different types of sports—Basketball, Tennis, Badminton, and Rugby—that were played in a certain region over a period of 20 years, from 1985 to 2005.
Overall, Rugby had been the most popular sport before experiencing a sharp decline. However, Tennis showed the opposite trend by rising gradually. Interestingly, participation in the other two sports fluctuated over the period without significant changes.
In 1985, Tennis was the second most popular sport, with 150 participants, and it gained another 50 by 1995. Rugby, on the other hand, did the complete opposite. In the beginning, it reached its peak level—almost 250—then it experienced a steady downward trend, losing 50 participants by 1995. Basketball and Badminton had approximately 75 and 5055 participants, respectively.
In the second half of the period, after reaching 200 in 1995, Tennis continued its gradual growth, gaining almost 30 participants to reach approximately 230 in 2005. As mentioned earlier, Basketball and Badminton remained steady in the second half. However, Rugby experienced the most significant fall, losing 150 participants by 2005.
