Overall, the number of visitors who staying on cruise ships or on island manifested similar upswings over the given period. As is highlight in the graph, accommodation on cruise ships was generally more popular than staying on island.
In 2010, only around 250000 visitors who stayed on a cruise ship; however, a significant increase of 250000 was recorded in the number of visitors in 2011. After declining to the original level in 2012, the number tourists who choose crusie ships surged consistently in the next five years, eventually peaking at 2 millions in 2017.
During the first two years, the number of the tourists who stayed on island remained stable at 750000. The number then increased considerably to a peak of 1.5 million in 2013 and stayed at this level until 2015. Having slightly decreased to 750000 in 2016, the figure for visitors staying on island boosted to 1.5 million in 2017.
Thanks to the massive increases in the number of visitors choosing both types of accommodation, the total number of passengers to this island had jumped impressively from only 1 million in 2010 to 3.5 million in 2017, constituting a more than 3-folds surge
