The line graph represents the change in the number of tourists who travelled to a Caribbean island in the seven-year period from 2010 to 2017. It measured in millions of visitors.
Overall, the total number of visitors to the Caribbean island increased. In the beginning, visitors preferred to stay on the island. By the end of the period, visitors preferred to stay on cruise ships.
In 2010, the number of visitors who stayed on the island was triple that of the visitors who stayed on cruise ships. It remained constant in 2011 (0.75 million). It rose to double in the next two years and plateaued from 2013 to 2015. It dropped 0.25 million in 2016 and recovered in 2017.
Cruise ship’s options climbed gradually reaching 2 million in 2017 while decreasing in 2012 and growing steadily since 2013. In 2016, visitors who stay on cruise ships surpassed the number of visitors who stay on the island. Consequently, the cruise ship option is preferable to staying on the island.
