Overall, it is evident that Edo museum in Tokyo ended the period with a decline, while MET in New York and National museum in China increased in numbers of visitors. National museum in China experienced the most significant growth among all of them.
The National Museum of China demonstrated an upward trend in visitor numbers throughout the entire period. Starting at approximately 6 million visitors in 2000, it experienced a steady increase and reached a peak of around 16 million visitors by 2005. On the other hand, the MET in New York also saw an increase, but at a more moderate pace. in In 2000, the figures started with roughly 12 million visitors. At the end of the period the numbers increased to about 14 million visitors.
While both museums experienced growth, the National Museum of China’s surge in visitors was significantly more volatile.It began with around 13 million visitors in 2000, the highest of the three museums in that year. However, it experienced a decline in 2001, reducing to approximately 8 million visitors. After a slight recovery in the following years, its visitor numbers gradually decreased, ending the period at around 10 million visitors in 2005.
