The given line graph illustrates the number of foreign visitors who came to United Kingdom for business, holiday and for meeting kith and kin over the period of 20 years from 1989 to 2009.
Overall, it can be seen that tourists who came for holiday were more than those for the other purposes for the major part of the given two decades.
First, about 6.5 million people travelled to UK for holiday in the year 1989. This ratio rose rapidly and peaked by 9 million by 1997 after that it fell dramatically in the year 2004 with 6.5 million. However, the number of visitors increased year by year and by 2009, it reached 9 million with a 3.5 increase in past 5 years.
On the other hand, business and socializing trips to the UK showed upward trend with 5 and 3.5 million respectively in the year 1989 and then it skyward to 8 and 7 million in 2006. However, by the 2009 both had a decline with 1 million reaching 6 and 7 million.
In conclusion, an upward trend was observed in all the three reasons for visiting the abroad.
