The chart illustrates the proportion of exports from Australia to Japan, the US, China and India through the 22-year period from 1990 to 2012.
Overall, while Japan and the US experienced a considerable fall in number over the period, that figure for China exploded to become the greatest value and a mere increase is also demonstrated by India.
Upon closer inspection of the chart, the percentage for Japan plummeted from the highest value of 27% in 1990 to the second stand of just over 15 % in the last year with the fastest rate of falling was recognized in the first 5 years as by 1995, this number had remained 20%. The figure for the US also displayed a noticeable decrease with well over 10% in 1990 to just about half that level in the final year despite some fluctuations during the years.
Regarding the figure for the remaining countries, in the first year China and India registered almost the same figure at around 3%, this number was maintained for the latter while moderately increased for the former in the first decade. However, the Chinese percentage skyrocketed to its peak of about 28% in 2013, contrary to a slight rise of Indian number to just under 5% in the last year although a noticeable growth to its highest point of 8% was provided in 2010.
