Overall, it is clearly notiecable that number of population in all 4 countries showed a gradual increase during the period. Malaysia had the highest percentage,while Thailand recorded the lowest figures.
In 1970, approximately 30% of people in Malaysia and Philippines resided in urban areas. Malaysia experienced most rapid growth. From 1990 upwards it surpassed the Philippines and reaching 80% in 2040. Despite Philippines experienced a little decrease during the years 1990 and 2010, it also showed steady growth and reached 50% in 2040.
Indonesia followed similar upward trajectory,increasing from 13% in 1970 to 50% in 2020,with forecasts that it will reach 60% in 2040.
