The line chart illustrates the proportion of tourists who chose to visit different destinations, in terms of aquariums, castles, the zoos, and festivals, in Scotland from 1980 to 2010. It is clear that the percentage of travelers coming to zoos and castles showed upward trend. It is also noticeable there was a fall in the sightseeing of tourists in aquariums and festivals throughout the time frame.
In 1980, the proportion of travelers visiting festivals was the highest ,at just under a third, followed by the figures for castles, aquariums, zoos, about 22%, 20%, and 10%, respectively. Five years later, the percentage of visitors coming to aquariums rose dramatically at just over a third, while the figure for festivals declined slightly at one quarter. Notably, the proportions of travelers chose to visit zoos and castles rose gently, at around 15% and 25%.
In 1995, castles seemed to become more popular among travelers, with its figure hit the highest point of around 45%. By 2010, the percentage of tourists coming to festivals dropped steeply from 30% to around 18%, and the figure for aquariums fell sharply to just under 10%. In constrast, the proportion of visitors who visited zoos grew abruptly to around 23%. Meanwhile, the percentage of travelers coming to castles declined considerably to around jusst under a third.
