The graph shows the percentage of individual in different age categories who go to the gym on a month basis spanning two decades from 1990 to 2010.
There has been a general trend upwards in the use of a gym accross all age groups.
The 45 and over age group has experienced a shallow and steady increase in gym use increasing from around 5% in 1990 to just over 10% in 2010.
The 25-34 age group has experienced the biggest uptake of gym use from 9% to 42%, however this has not been evenly distributed throighout the years. For example, from 1994 to 1998 there was an exponential increase from 9% to 25%, followed by a more gradual increase to 50% in 2005. Form 2005 to 2006, there was a decrease to 40% and then a small increase to 42% in 2010.
The 35-44 age group experienced a similar gradual trend as the 25-34 group until 2006, rising from 6% to 10%. However, this age group then had a dramtic increase from 2006 to 2010, increasing 20%.
