The given graph illustrates the population of two countries between 2000 and the present time, with predictions for growth until 2050.
Overall, it is clear that China dominated India from the beginning till the present day. However, based on the predictions, India will outperform China in terms of population. Nevertheless, they both showed and will show a gradual increase.
Focusing more on the first half of the period, the population of China constituted just below 1,300 in 2000 compared to 1,000 for India. After ten years, there was a sharp rise in the population of India, making up exactly 1,200, while China also experienced a period of growth, reaching almost 1,400. Continuing to climb, they reached over 1,400 for China and 1,400 for India by 2020.
Focusing more on the remaining half of the period, the projections of the number of residents in both countries will meet around at 1,450 in 2030, after which India is set to reach precisely 1,600 by 2050, whilst it is estimated that the number of people in China will have declined to 1,400 by 2050.
