The image is a line graph titled "Production levels of the main fuels in the United Kingdom" displaying data from 1981 to 2000 for three types of fuels: Petroleum, Natural gas, and Coal, measured in millions of tonnes. Petroleum production starts at approximately 40 in 1981, peaks at around 160 in 1999, and ends at roughly 140 in 2000. Natural gas begins at about 20 in 1981, rises to a peak of nearly 120 in 2000. Coal starts at approximately 120 in 1981, decreases steadily to around 80 in 2000. Each fuel's production levels fluctuate yearly, with Petroleum and Natural gas generally increasing, whereas Coal shows a steady decline over the 20-year period.

The graph illustrates the production level of petroleum, natural gas and coal in United Kingdom from 1981 to 2000.
Petroleum has been produced more than coal and natural gas. It saw an sudden surge in production from 1981 to 1984 gaining more than 40 million tonnes within a span of 3 years. Since then, it saw a steady production rate till 1987 when it saw a sharp decline from 140 to 100 tonnes, which continued for 3 years.
Coal followed a declining pattern where it saw a sudden decline in production from 1983 to 1984. The production rose up slightly from 1984, until it started declining again at a steady rate.
Natural gas production in 1981 was 40 million tonnes with no changes in production uptil 1988 and, since then the production increased drastically. Natural gas took the second spot in year 1992 leaving behind coal.
Altogether, Petrol has been the main fuel source in United Kingdom with natural gas gaining on it slowly.
