The supplied line chart illustrate the production level of petroleum, coal, and natural gas in the UK from 1981 to 2000.
Looking from an overall perspective it is readily apparent that, the produced levels of the main kinds of fuel experienced a fluctuation throughtout the timeline. Petroleum was cosistently the highest produced fuel, followed by coal and natural gas; however, by the end of the year, natural gas supassed the coal.
Firstly, taking a closer look at petroleum, around 90 million tonnes of oil was accounted in the initial period then, the level rose cosederably in 1984, and remained stable at 140 million tonnes for three years before a gradual fall to 100 million tonnes by 1990, after that showed a continous upward trend over the rest of the period.
In contrast, coal production begain at 80 million tonnes in 1981, while natural gas was found to be almost half of its amount, with a slight decline for two years, the coal moderately climbed up to reach just over 100 million tonnes in 2000; whilst, production level of coal dropped subsiquently below 40 million tonnes then recovered to 60 million tonnes in the following two years and thereafter it showed declination till the end.
