The graph shows the prodution levels of three types of fuel namely petroleum, coal, and natural gas in the UK between 1981 and 2000.
It is evident that the most produced fuel was remained petroleum throughout the period, though its production fluctuated. A noticeable decline was experienced by Coal production, while a steady increase was seen by natural gas, surpassing coal by the late 1990s.
In 1981, approximately 100 energy units of petroleum were produced and by 1986, around 130 units had been risen by the figure. However, production then fluctuated before stabilizing at about 120 units by the end of the period. In contrast, from around 80 units in 1981 to just over 40 units reduced coal production significantly by 2000.
Natural gas production was increased steadily, from 40 units in 1981 to approximately 85 units by 2000. It was allowed the rise in natural gas production to exceed coal in the mid-1990s.
