The line chart gives information about how many goods were transported in the UK from 1974 to 2002 by four types of transport modes.
It is clear that the largest number of goods were carried by road, while pipelines transported the least during the 28 years. The road, water, and pipeline transportation show a total increased trend between 1974 and 2002, while, the tendency of goods transported by rail is fluctuant.
According to the picture, we can see 70 million tonnes of products were conveyed by road in 1974, which is around 30 million tonnes larger than the quantities conveyed by water and rail, and 75 million tonnes larger than by pipeline. In 1978, the same mass of goods were exported by water and rail, which is 40 million tonnes.
In 1994, the quantities of products were 79, 58, 24, and 21 million tonnes transported by road, water, rail, and pipeline, respectively. The amount of merchandise carried by pipeline remained stationary, while others rose after the year 1995, with 99, 62, and 41 million tonnes in 2002, respectively.
