The graph illustrates the change in the percentage of unemployed people in the USA and Japan from 1993 to 1999. As it is observed, the unemployment rate slightly increased in the Asian country compared to the sharp decrease its American counterpart experienced.
In the Spring of 1993 a little more than 2% of the Japanese did not work, this number, however, experienced a steady grow over the course of the 7-year period with a peak at approximately 4,5% in March of 1999.
The unemployment rate in the USA was about the same that year, while in the beginning of the given time period the number of jobless people was much higher among the Americans, reaching a striking 7%, which gradually declined to 4% over the years.
In conclusion, it can be said that the process in Japan was the exact opposite of that of the USA. While in the first case more people lost their job by 1999, in the latter a different trend can be observed.
