Overall, the rates of unemployment decreased over the years in the US. But in Japan, proportion of nonemployed citizen increased rapidly.
In March 1993, US had 7% of unemployment rate. Which gradually declined over the year. In March 1994, it fell to nearly 6%, and in 1995, it went below 5.5%. After 1995, the percentage of nonemployed citizen had risen slightly, which is around 6%, but then again it had shown a decline. Finally, in March 1999, the unemployment rate fell to approximately 4%.
On the other hand, in Japan unemployment rate had a huge growth. In March 1993, the proportion was below 2.5%, which significantly started to increase over the years. In 1994, 1995, and 1996 the rate of unemployment was nearly 3%, above 3%, and nearly 3.5%, respectively. The percentage was constant after March 1997. But from March 1998, it increased rapidly. In 1998 around 4% of citizens were unemployed. In March 1999, it was all-time high unemployment rate. That was more than 4.5 in percentage.
