The diagram above gives information about UK acid rain emissions, measured in millions of tonnes, from various sectors between 1990 and 2007.
Overall, according to the specified graph, it is clear the volume of acid oxide emissions has significantly decreased. The most dramatic reduction was seen in electricity, gas and water supply sector, while transport and communication sectors remained relatively stable.
In 1991 electricity, gas and water supply was the largest source at around 3.4 million tonnes. However, this number fell sharply to about 0.5 million tonnes by 2007. As well as emission from other industries decreased gradually from around 2.1 to 1.2 million tonnes.
By contrast, transport and communication emissions moved smoothly, starting at 0.7 million tonnes and ending at the same level. Domestic emissions were also almost at the similar level from beginning to end, approximately 0.6 to 0.2 million tonnes and becoming the lowest among all sources.
