The graph line reveals the percentage of different types of materials used to be recycled between 1982 and 2010 in a country. Overall, all four types of materials showed upward trends in the given time. Paper & cardboard had the highest percentage throughout the given period.
Paper & cardboard started as the highest amongst the four at 65% in 1982, and then rose to 80% with fluctuation trend from 1986 to 1994 before decreasing steadily to its previous value in 1986 of 70% in 2010.
By contrast, glass containers began relatively lower than paper and cardboard at 50% in 1982, before falling considerably by 10% in 1990. The figures then increased sharply to 50% in 1994, before continuing increase to 60% in 2010.
Finally, from 1986 to 2002, there was a steady increase for Aluminum cans from 3% to 25% followed by a sharp increase in the following year. Plastics had the lowest percentage at 2% at the start of the period and then relatively hovered around 6% to the end of the given years.
