Overall, the rate of student experienced an upward trend in all the given four countries over the period. The highest percentage of students noticed both at the beginning and end of the period in Thailand.
The percentage of students was just below a quarter in 1961. Despite it gradually decreased for initial one decade and little bit fluctuated until 1991, it witnessed a sharp escalation throughout the final two decades. The rate went to a high of more than 40% in 2011. In the meantime, the proportion followed a rapid increased (30%) from 1961 to 1971 but fluctuated considerably for the next thirty years, before having a significant rose to 40% in Singapore. However, the number of students surged to 10% at the end of 1971. It climbed steadily in the remaining years and reached a high of 20% approximately in Malayasia. Though the proportion of university student plateaued at 15% in the final 20 years, it depicted slow increased in the preceding decades in Philippines.
