Overall, all three countries experienced a downward trend, while Scotland saw slight growth over the period. England had the highest percentage of unemployment in 2013, but it’s rate declined slightly.
In 2013, England was responsible for the highest percentage of unemployment rate at around 6.8%. This figure declined by 0.3%, reaching 6.5% in 2014. Similarly, the female unemployment rates in Wales and Northern Ireland declined from 5.4% and 5.6% in 2013 to 5.0% and 4.8% in 2014 respectively.
In contrast, the number of unemployed women in Scotland increased slightly. Starting at 6.1% in 2013, it grew by 0.6% to reach 6.7% in 2014.
In summary, while the rate of unemployed women in Scotland increased, there was a small decrease in other three countries. The biggest decline was in Northern Ireland.
