The line graph given illustrates how different kinds of technology usage in the UK evolved from 2000 to 2015.
In 2000, there were only two kinds of technology usage, Internet and broadband, with a slim proportion of 30 percent and 5 percent, respectively.
As a comparison, in 2015, six categories of technology had users in the UK, and the popularity of all usage forms had risen, especially the internet, which rocketed to a 90 percent usage percentage. Other forms such as social media, smartphones, and broadband were also common to the UK public, with a usage percentage between 69 and 80 percent. However, the smartwatch was still rare in 2015, with a tiny 5 percent share.
In general, there have been significant increases in both the popularity and diversity of technology usage. This is especially true of new portable devices and internet-related services. For example, the smartphone possession rate surged 54 percentage points in only 5 years, while social media achieved a leap of 78 percentage points within 10 years. On the contrary, the development of the smartwatch has rather been stable
